David Suntup - Biography

I was most recently a Play-By-Play Broadcaster and Multimedia Producer for the Akron Zips and GoZips.com. I called games for soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball along with reporting at football and basketball games. I also hosted and help produced our weekly features show Z360, and I coordinated and edited our weekly men's basketball feature.
I started my professional career at IMG in Winston-Salem, NC, and I spent two years there along with a year at ESPN Triad. I served as a Seasonal Producer for the East Region and the Studio Host for Marshall University football and basketball broadcasts at IMG.
I also hosted high school football broadcasts every Friday night on ESPN Triad along with producing and co-hosting a Saturday morning talk show called "The High School Huddle". Some of my highlights working there included interviews with former and current NFL players Torry Holt, Ricky Proehl, Charlie Sanders, and Greg Olsen. I also covered high school football state championship games at UNC and NC State, the Shrine Bowl in Spartanburg, SC, and the Belk Bowl at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
I grew up in Wayne, New Jersey, about a half hour outside of New York City. When I was younger I dreamed of playing center field for the New York Mets. Once I realized I didn't have the athletic skills to accomplish that goal, I decided the next best seat in the house was the broadcast booth.
I attended Syracuse University and graduated from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in December 2011. While at Syracuse, I did play-by-play for Syracuse football, basketball, and lacrosse at WAER and high school football, Syracuse women's basketball, and Syracuse women's lacrosse at WJPZ.
When I'm not in the broadcast booth or on television, I enjoy playing tennis, golf, skiing, and watching the New York Mets and the New York Giants. I won a tennis county championship my senior year in high school, and I was a First Team All-County selection for Passaic County in New Jersey.
